About Youth & Family Programs

Supporting Foster Youth and Families Across Northern California

Youth & Family Programs is dedicated to strengthening families and empowering foster youth to build safe, stable, and successful futures. Serving communities throughout Shasta County, Tehama County, and Butte County, our organization provides supportive programs for foster youth from infancy through age 21 while equipping foster families with the guidance and resources they need to succeed.

Through strong partnerships with county agencies, social workers, foster parents, and community organizations, Youth & Family Programs works to ensure children and young adults in foster care receive the stability, support, and opportunities they deserve.

Our History and Philosophy

Since 1984, Youth & Family Programs has been serving foster youth and families across the region, building a strong network of support that helps children find safety, stability, and belonging. Over the years, our organization has expanded services to meet the evolving needs of youth in foster care. With offices in Redding and Chico, our team provides programs that support children, teens, and young adults at every stage of their journey through the foster care system.

Our experienced staff works closely with county agencies and community partners to ensure that foster families have the resources, training, and support needed to care for youth who may have experienced trauma or instability.

At Youth & Family Programs, our philosophy centers on the well-being of children and the importance of strong family connections. We are committed to creating supportive environments where youth can heal, grow, and thrive while working collaboratively with families, caregivers, and community partners. By focusing on stability, compassion, and teamwork, we strive to ensure that every child has the opportunity to build a safe and successful future.

Our approach emphasizes:

Helping children achieve safe, stable, and permanent homes as quickly as possible

Supporting and including birth families whenever appropriate

Encouraging collaboration between foster parents, social workers, and community partners

Creating supportive environments where youth can heal, grow, and succeed

Our Mission

At Youth & Family Programs, our mission is to provide compassionate services that help foster youth heal, grow, and prepare for independent adulthood while supporting the families and caregivers who provide safe and nurturing homes.

We believe every child deserves:

A safe and stable home environment

Caring adults who provide guidance and encouragement

Opportunities to learn, grow, and build confidence

Support systems that help them transition successfully into adulthood

By focusing on the needs of both youth and caregivers, we create positive outcomes for children and families throughout Northern California.

Working Together for Children and Families

The work of Youth & Family Programs is made possible through collaboration with foster parents, social workers, volunteers, and community partners. Together, we create a network of care that supports youth and families during some of the most important moments in their lives. Whether through fostering, mentoring, volunteering, or partnering with our organization, community members play an important role in helping foster youth succeed.

By supporting foster families and empowering young people with the tools they need to succeed, Youth & Family Programs continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families across Shasta, Tehama, and Butte Counties.
